Airconditioning Unit Troubleshooting

If you feel your heating or cooling system is not operating properly, please check these possible causes first:

Gas Ducted Heater Checklist

  • Check that the power cable to the appliance is securely plugged in and the power is turned on.
  • Check that there is actually power supplied to the power point. You can check this by plugging another appliance into the power point.
  • Check the gas supply to the unit is turned on. The gas tap/cock must be positioned in line (parallel) with the gas supply pipe. Also if you have re-lit the pilot recently (Older models), check that the gas valve has been turned from PILOT position to ON position (please refer to your Owner’s Manual for detailed instruction).
  • If there is a whistling noise; check that the return air and filter (if fitted) has been cleaned with a vacuum and firmly replaced back into the wall/ceiling.

Evaporative Cooler Checklist

  • Check that the water supply tap has been turned on to the cooler?
  • Check that the power cable to the appliance is securely plugged in and the power is turned on.
  • Check that there is actually power supplied to the power point. You can check this by plugging another appliance into the power point.
  • Check the circuit breaker, or RCD (safety switch) has not been tripped – if so reset it.
  • Check that the cool function has been selected on the controller, not ventilation.
  • Check sufficient door and/or windows have been opened.

Ducted Refrigerated Air Conditioner Unit Checklist

  • Check the circuit breaker, or RCD (safety switch) that protects you appliance has not been tripped – if so reset it.
  • Check there are no air flow restrictions on your outdoor unit such as leaves or other obstructions
